AI in fertility

Patterns can inform. People make the decisions.

Start with the essentials ↓
01 · The essentials

What does it mean?

Artificial intelligence uses computational models to identify patterns in data. In fertility research, applications include analyzing embryo images and supporting laboratory observation.

Time-lapse imaging and AI are different tools: one records development, while the other may analyze patterns. A score needs clinical context and a clear explanation.

02 · Explore the concept

Observation

Images or other measurements provide information.

Simplified educational illustration. Select each concept at your pace; not a clinical image, fixed timetable or prediction.

03 · A visual guide

The sequence, at a glance.

  1. Understand the tool

Ask what it measures and why it is considered.

  2. Review the evidence

Look for outcomes relevant to patients like you.

  3. Check the limits

Discuss uncertainty, bias and data handling.

  4. Keep human oversight

Review recommendations with your clinical team.

A conceptual guide. Your care team provides the sequence and timing that apply to you.

04 · Prepare your conversation

A sequence,
not a fixed calendar.

  1. Before an optional tool
Ask for its purpose, evidence and cost.
  2. When a score is discussed
Ask how it changes the recommendation.
  3. Before deciding
    Review alternatives and your preferences.

Your question checklist

Checks are temporary. No information is saved or submitted.

05 · Make an informed decision

Know the limits.

Automated embryo assessment has not been shown to improve the chance of a baby for most patients. A model cannot promise an outcome. This guide explains the field; it does not establish that a particular AI product is used at RCA.

How can I prepare for a consultation?

Write down the questions that matter to you. Ask the team how to share prior records securely and whether counseling or financial follow-up would help.

From question to plan

From clinical question,
to careful decision.

Information matters most when it becomes a clear conversation.

Your history, test results and laboratory findings help guide an individualized plan. Your care team can explain what is known, what remains uncertain and what comes next.

  1. Start with your question
Your goals and concerns shape the discussion.
  2. Gather relevant information
Ask which assessments may help and why.
  3. Connect the findings
Review the picture together, not a number alone.
  4. Decide and reassess
Revisit the plan as new information emerges.
